*Competition Winner* Nanny Room Mini-Makeover – Full Room Reveal
You may recall that a few months ago Home Club ME launched a very special competition for a very special someone integral to your home. We called upon all employers of home-help in Dubai to nominate their wonderful nannies, maids and domestic helpers for the chance to win a mini room makeover!
We had over 200 entries to put their lovely ladies and men forward for the chance to win this Dubai dwelling competition. All were deserving, but we could only choose one contestant and it was very difficult. After reading through each submission, our mind’s and heart’s were made up for Charlotte Alexander, owner of the much-loved Instagram account @farfromfat126, to win the prize of a room makeover for her well-deserving nanny Vicky.
Charlotte wrote in to Home Club ME, recalling that Vicky had recently suffered the tragic loss of her husband, back home in the Philippines whilst she sacrificed and strived for a better life for her family from here in Dubai. While we know that we cannot take the pain away, being able to make things a little cosier and more like home was a pleasure – as was the smile on this beautiful lady’s face. Due to COVID complications, the makeover took a little longer than anticipated to complete. But once everyone was back on their feet and feeling healthy, the work commenced and finished within a matter of days, with a whole team of service providers working together to make it happen.
Interiors & Design Thinking with Viviane Khoury
The wonderful Interior Designer Viviane Khoury curated the entire look of this magical operation – here are her behind the scenes notes on how everyone made this happen:
After consulting with Vicky, I received a brief that she wanted a relaxing, cosy space that was inviting to welcome her friends should they come over. During our initial chat, I came to know that she loves the colour ‘baby pink’ and appreciates a well-framed picture in interiors, which was all taken into consideration when designing the aesthetic for the space.
It was personally such an enjoyable and unique experience for me to work with so many different businesses all conducting themselves professionally and all of whom understood the brief of the project to the tiniest of details. I am delighted to have been a part of this small, but meaningful makeover.
Before/During:
Designer Viviane Khoury was restricted to a limited budget with this makeover, and so utilised the credit she had with Jysk the best she could given the limitations. Vicky asked that all her appliances, aside from her fridge be removed from the room, to reduce clutter.
